Third Party Liability
While the Property Policy insures your tangible assets, a Third Party Liability Policy provides protection against your legal liability to Third Parties / General Public who may suffer death / injury, physical loss or damage due to your negligence, or the negligence of your employees. A classic example could be fire or water leakage starting from your premises (due to your/employees’ negligence) that spreads to your Neighbors’ property and causes damages there. The Policy would usually also pay for Legal expenses incurred with Insurer’s Consent.
Key factors to consider while designing the policy include aspects such as nature or type of your business activity, inherent risks of the business, your surrounding properties, limit of indemnity selected, safety / risk management measures adopted and contractual requirements, if any.
